First Class

You enter your squadron as a Second Class Cadet and you will follow the Basic Training syllabus which when complete you will have become a First Class Cadet and recive the badge on the right to sew onto your brassard.

This training is designed to give you the skills and knowledge you will need before attending RAF Stations and joining in the activities of the Squadron.

You will study the following ACPs:

  • ACP 31 Section 1: History of the ATC
  • ACP 31 Section 2: History of the RAF
  • ACP 31 Section 3: The Rifle
  • ACP 31 Section 4: Initial Expedition Training
  • ACP 31 Section 6: Communications
  • ACP 32 Volume 1: Map Reading
  • ACP 33 Volume 1: History Of Flight
  • ACP 34 Volume 1: Airmanship I
  • Drill
  • First Aid (optional)

Each of these sections has progessional assessment. Each of these must be passed in order to progress on to become a First Class Cadet. Don't panic! You will be given a lot of help to do this.

Cadets who have any form of learning difficulty, especially dyslexia, should ensure that the Staff are aware. The ACO will do its best to help all Cadets succeed, regardless of ability.

NOTE: Do not get confused between the Cadet RANK and CLASSIFICATION (Training) structures. They are mostly independent from each other.
